On 3 March 2020, Tianjin Ganquan Group dispatched six full tubular pumps for a major national project supporting development in China’s Greater Bay Area. These submersible pump units were the first batch of this type shipped after Ganquan resumed production during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Ganquan’s original report, the units were bound for a project site approximately 2,500 km from the factory.

High-Capacity Full Tubular Pumps
Each pump unit weighed 35 tonnes and incorporated a 1.9 m diameter impeller. The stated design flow was 12 m³/s per unit, equivalent to 43,200 m³/h. Across all six units, the sum of the individual design flow rates was 72 m³/s, or 259,200 m³/h.
The report compared the new units with earlier Ganquan pumps used for flood relief and urban drainage in Hunan. Those pumps had a discharge capacity of 2 m³/s; the design flow of each unit in this shipment was six times that figure.
Integrated Motor and Pump Design
The full tubular design integrates the motor and pump into a single assembly, simplifying the mechanical arrangement. Ganquan described the resulting design as more compact and more efficient, with seawater corrosion resistance for coastal drainage applications.
At the time of the report, Ganquan stated that the product had undergone more than a decade of development and was supported by ten patents, including two invention patents.
Installation Advantages for Drainage Station Upgrades
Ganquan highlighted urban drainage pumping station upgrades as a suitable application for the compact design. The original report stated that the design could reduce associated civil works costs by nearly one-third and that installation using a gate-mounted pump configuration could take as little as ten minutes.
