Ganquan’s bidirectional pumps for Xincheng South Sluice and Pumping Station have passed joint factory acceptance. The tubular pump units were custom-developed by Tianjin Ganquan Group for the Dongtiaoxi River flood protection improvement project in Deqing, Zhejiang, China.

According to the original report, flow rate, efficiency and operating stability met the design requirements. The equipment had completed factory testing and was ready for shipment.

Supporting Flood Protection in Deqing

Xincheng South Sluice and Pumping Station is a key facility within the Deqing flood protection scheme, a priority water infrastructure project in Zhejiang. Located on the right bank of the Dongtiaoxi River along the Xixian Datang embankment, it connects the main river with the internal waterways of the Chengnan polder, an embanked area served by the station.

On completion, the wider scheme is intended to raise flood protection along the Xixian Datang embankment to a 1-in-200-year standard, strengthening flood defences in the western Hangjiahu Plain.

Bidirectional Pumps for Two Operating Duties

Each unit has a design flow of 5 m³/s in forward operation and 5 m³/s in reverse operation, equivalent to 18,000 m³/h in either direction.

Flood drainage: During the flood season, forward operation removes accumulated water from the polder to support drainage in southern Deqing.

River replenishment: Outside the flood season, reverse operation draws water into the internal waterways to maintain circulation and support the local aquatic environment.

Joint Factory Acceptance

Representatives of the project owner, design team, supervision consultant and an independent testing organisation jointly verified the equipment. The review confirmed that the units’ key performance indicators, including flow rate, efficiency and operating stability, satisfied the project’s design requirements.
